Why Timber

Timber is decidedly more environmentally friendly than Aluminium or PVCU. Forests are being protected and managed by replacing more trees than are being cut down. There is now more than twice as much wood in the forest than there was 100 years ago. Healthy Forestry also helps to counter the Greenhouse Effect since growing trees absorb Carbon Dioxide and emit Oxygen. Managed felling and replanting increase this effect since young growing trees absorb and emit more than older mature trees. It has been estimated that a healthy growing tree consumes more than nine kilos of carbon Dioxide and gives off about seven kilos of oxgen per year.

Unlike steel, cement bricks or plastics wood requires less energy to convert into useable form. There is a minimal waste in the production process and residue material from timber components. Production is commonly used in the manufacture of other products such as particle board, as a fuel source or in agriculture. A PVCU window frame has more than seven times the energy input in manufacture than a wooden window frame of similar size and design.

Wood enjoys extremely good insulation properties. The combination of good quality raw material, skilled craftmanship and the use of the latest machine technology will help to ensure that the highest quality is maintained.
